Umami no Unagi eels are carefully nurtured in designated aquaculture facilities free from chemical additives, then grilled in a delicious sweet sauce made from naturally brewed soy sauce prepared with Japanese-grown whole soybeans and matured in wooden barrels for three years.
This Kabayaki eel is a Marine Foods exclusive made with eels from Kagoshima prefecture.

Umami no Unagi eels are nurtured in natural conditions without the use of chemical additives such as antibiotics and synthetic antimicrobials.The operators live on site, and are together with the growing fish all day every day.The operators are committed to producing eels without the use of chemicals, and are able to do this thanks to the excellent climatic conditions and ready availability of clear, fresh groundwater.The water temperature, waterwheels and water supply and drainage systems are monitored remotely. In the event of a fault or failure, the operators are alerted immediately, at any time of the day or night.

Raised Exclusively in Fresh, Clear Groundwater Sourced from the Kirishima Mountain Range

The eel farm uses fresh all-natural Kagoshima groundwater pumped up from a depth of 45 meters, for maximum flavor and minimum odor.The eels are raised in concrete ponds on feed consisting mainly of fish meal and starch.

The sauce that gives Umami no Unagi such incredible flavor is prepared using the finest naturally brewed soy sauce made from Japanese whole soy beans that is slowly matured in wooden barrels for three years harnessing natural variations in temperature and humidity.

The eels are coated in sauce then grilled, a process that is repeated three more times while monitoring and adjusting the grilling process with care.
